The Marseille football club has signed former Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery on a free transfer, according to reports. The French international will join the Ligue 1 side in January and is expected to boost their wing depth ahead of the transfer window.
Ribery, who turned 36 last month, has had a successful career with several clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Monaco. He also won two Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich and was part of the France national team that reached the final of Euro 2016.
Marseille have been struggling for goals this season and have only scored seven goals in their first eight games of the campaign. The addition of Ribery could provide them with some much-needed firepower in attack.
However, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to adapt to life in Ligue 1 after his long stint at Bayern. Regardless, the signing is sure to raise eyebrows and attract interest from other top clubs in Europe.
